Balance is a key component of how you move. Training your balance helps improve your posture and the quality of your movements while preventing falls and injuries. As we grow older, we can lose balance function; Adrian has developed this class to help counteract this.
You will begin by rolling out your feet, massaging out any tight or sore areas, before moving onto march and holds, tiptoe walks, single leg eye tracking, and RDLs. These moves will work on your stabilization, coordination, and athleticism, preparing you to work on the dynamic lateral bound. Observe the difference in your balance from the start of class as you finish with another set of march and holds.
Adrian emphasizes these moves are for you to explore and play with – falling over or feeling shaky is part of it. In this class, falling is learning. With practice, you will find yourself feeling confident that you can always regain your balance.
Suggested Equipment: a small ball.
